Maps and Community- Day 1 and 2

We started our unit by showing a video of our 5K teachers lost in the school, looking for the library. We asked the students what we could use to help us find our way.

Here are a few responses when we  asked " Why do we use maps?" 

Day 2- There was a hidden treasure in our school! We had to follow the treasure map to find our way! 

Now that we have an idea of why we use maps, we will begin to explore and create maps of our own! 

In Writing Workshop, we read our mentor text My Map Book. The students will create a map book focusing on labeling over the next 2 weeks.
